Summary: Little John knows there are no words that will comfort Robin.

by robinfanatic

Little John dreaded the journey back to England, dreaded the deadly silence of his companions. Much's incessant rambling would be better than this. He'd even listen to Allan spin a yarn.

For just this once he wished he could find something to say, words that might comfort his grieving friend.  But he already knew Robin's answers.

It's all right. No, it isn't.

She'd want you to get on with your life. There is no life without her.

You'll find another. No, I won't.

He knew the answers 'cos he'd repeated them a thousand times since the day he'd left Alice.

commenting on my own fic... the one line I wasn't sure about, She'd want you to get on with your life, might not seem to fit Alice but the answer would be something John would think. I hope that makes sense...

Maybe not the in the beginning, but definitely when Alice moved away with Luke the cooper. She finally come to an acceptance and understanding in her heart at that point.

Awww, perfect. Out of all of them John can come closest to appreciating what Robin has lost.

Lovely drabble! Short, poignant and a great insight into the character... good job!

OOH, very thought-provoking! Love the parallel, even though Alice isn't dead, she's gone from his life.
